The actress said the relationship happened roughly four and a half years ago while she was separated from husband Will Smith, who joined her for the show. The sit-down on the show came after Alsina opened up about the relationship last week, prompting rumors and discussion on social media.
It set a new record as Facebook's most-watched original episode in the first 24 hours, Variety reported, with more than 12 million views as of Saturday afternoon. As the couple discussed the issue, Pinkett Smith said she thought she and Will were done indefinitely.
I was done with you," Will Smith said. The pair have been married since and have two children together: Jaden, 22; and Willow, Will Smith also has another son, Trey, 27, from a previous marriage. The year-old Pinkett Smith said initially she and Alsina, 27, were close friends and she wanted to help him get healthier. The "Song Cry" singer has been very open about his struggles with an autoimmune disease. Me wanting to help his health, his mental state," she explained.
Will Smith, 51, said when Alsina — whom they both referred to by the nickname "Aug" — first came around he was really sick.Taylor Swift - Blank Space
The relationship between Alsina and Pinkett Smith eventually turned into something deeper. When Will Smith pushed his wife to clarify what she meant, Pinkett Smith responded: "It was a relationship, absolutely.
During a sit-down last week with radio host Angela Yee, Alsina said he got Will Smith's permission to pursue a relationship with Pinkett Smith. Pinkett Smith addressed Alsina's comments on Friday and said her husband did not give his permission.
Which he's not. Pinkett Smith said she was "in a lot of pain" and was "very broken" during the relationship with Alsina. Eventually, the Smiths got back together and decided to work on their marriage.
Pinkett Smith said she was proud of how far they have come. And a lot of couples that separate and think it's over. One thing I'll say about you and I is that there's never been secrets," she said. The couple ended the show by jokingly reciting a rendition of Will Smith's "Bad Boys" movie motto.
We die together," they said in unison, laughing as they bumped fists. Follow NBC News. Breaking News Emails Get breaking news alerts and special reports. This illustrates the difficulty of harmonizing liability rules across different nations. The concept of professional responsibility and the mingling of substantive rule with evidential presumption sounds very civilian and unprincipled to my common law eye.
Agreed - but I am not clear whether, when the link circumvents a paywall, you have to know or have grounds to know that it does so. Presumably the next judgment will explain to us that making a copy without licence is an act of reproduction only if you have grounds to know that the act is unlicensed or you are doing it for profit.
This takes "communicating to the public" in a decidedly different direction than what the plain words mean. Talk about your legislating from the bench A basic? Your comments are extremely interesting but I think hyperlinks require to rethink about copyright.
This state of scarcity enables authors to put a price on the works they license. Therefore, the reproduction and performance rights were fully relevant before the digital world because works of the minds merged with their mediums.
However, hyperlink present a challenge since there is no reproduction see art. It is therefore necessary to find a new way to create a state of scarcity in favor of authors. Concerning the distinction between professionals and non-professionals it is something that already exists in the UK because the directive on consumer protection applies there too.
The distinction that the Court made is relevant because it respects the principles on which the internet was built : a space free of laws and money. The GS Media case is consistent with that because it says that if you deal with the basic principles of the internet i. However, if you make money on the internet and do not respect the 'spirit of the internet', then we will apply regular rules and you shall respect the artificial state of scarcity in favor of the author.

We aimed to study response to gliadin exposure, in terms of barrier function and cytokine secretion, using intestinal biopsies obtained from four groups: celiac patients with active disease ACDceliac patients in remission RCDnon-celiac patients with gluten sensitivity GS and non-celiac controls NC.
Methods: Ex-vivo human duodenal biopsies were mounted in microsnapwells and luminally incubated with either gliadin or media alone. Changes in transepithelial electrical resistance were monitored over min.
Media was subsequently collected and cytokines quantified. Conclusions: Increased intestinal permeability after gliadin exposure occurs in all individuals. Following gliadin exposure, both patients with gluten sensitivity and those with active celiac disease demonstrate a greater increase in intestinal permeability than celiacs in disease remission.
A higher concentration of IL was measured in the media exposed to control explants compared to celiac disease in remission or gluten sensitivity. Diagnosis of CD is primarily reliant on histologic demonstration of the characteristic enteropathy, with supporting criteria, such as the presence of the celiac-specific antibodies to tissue transglutaminase tTG and HLA testing.
It is important to note that symptom alleviation on a GFD alone does not equate to a diagnosis of CD [ 2 ]. Along with the increasing awareness of CD has come the emerging recognition that there are individuals who clinically react to gluten-containing food ingestion without demonstration of a T-cell mediated process in the gastrointestinal mucosa. These individuals are classified as having non-celiac gluten sensitivity GS [ 34 ]. While the symptoms of GS may mirror that of CD, and these symptoms may resolve on a GFD, these individuals have no histologic evidence of small intestinal enteropathy while on a gluten-containing diet.
Moreover, GS carries no association with an elevation of tTG autoantibodies, although several studies have shown a higher frequency of positive anti-gliadin antibodies AGA than the general population [ 678 ].
This reintroduction is typically performed as an open challenge, although double-blind placebo controlled re-challenges have been performed [ 910 ]. The apparent lack of adaptive immune activation in GS raises the hypothesis that the similarities between GS and CD may be more related to a common defect in intestinal barrier function [ 11 ].
The intestinal barrier, by limiting uncontrolled access of non-self antigens in the lamina propria, is an integral part of immune surveillance, and impaired barrier function may play a role in a number of immune-mediated diseases, including CD [ 121314 ].
In healthy intestinal epithelium, this intestinal barrier should be impermeable to macromolecules such as gliadin due to competent paracellular tight junctions. However, it has been well-demonstrated that antigenic gliadin peptides, which are inherently resistant to intraluminal digestion, are able to cross the intestinal epithelium of CD patients secondary to the gliadin-mediated, MyDdependent release of zonulin and consequent disassembly of the tight junction barrier [ 1516 ].
In this study, we aimed to study whether gliadin causes a similar effect in non-celiac subjects by exposing, to gliadin, intestinal biopsy explants obtained from four different study groups: celiac patients with active disease ACDceliac patients in remission RCDnon-celiac patients with gluten sensitivity GS and non-celiac controls NC.To identify mechanisms for the impact of visual media use on adolescents' school performance.
We conducted a month, four-wave longitudinal telephone study of a national sample of 6, youth aged years. Outcome Measure : Self and parent reports of grades in school. Effects of media exposures on change in school performance between baseline and 24 months were assessed using structural equation modeling.
Information about hypothesized mediators substance use, sensation-seeking, and school problem behavior was obtained at baseline and at themonth follow-up. Adjusted for baseline school performance, baseline levels of mediators, and a range of covariates, both screen exposure time and media content had adverse effects on change in school performance. Screen exposure had an indirect effect on poor school performance through increased sensation-seeking. Viewing more PG and R-rated movies had indirect effects on poor school performance mediated through increases in substance use and sensation-seeking.
R-rated viewing also had an indirect effect on poor school performance through increased school behavior problems. The effect sizes of exposure time and content on the intermediate variables and ultimately on school performance were similar to those for previously recognized determinants of these mediators — including household income, parenting style, and adolescents' self-control.
These aspects of visual media use adversely affect school performance by increasing sensation-seeking, substance use and school problem behavior. To the extent that school performance predicts educational attainment, it has the potential to affect a host of economic and health outcomes.
The relation between television and movie viewing and school performance has been a subject of debate.
Linking after GS Media ... in a table
Studies on preteens and adolescents have suggested a detrimental effect of television viewing on school performance 1 - 3 relating it to lower homework completion, more learning problems, and worse academic achievement. However, little is known about what exactly it is about viewing television that affects school performance.
For example, is it simply that time spent watching television displaces time doing homework, or does media use influence behavioral characteristics that are ultimately related to school performance?
In a cross-sectional study, we found that hours of weekday television viewing and viewing of R-rated movie content were associated concurrently with poor school performance.
In this paper we report results from a longitudinal analysis that tested several hypothesized pathways linking media variables to change in school performance. We have developed a heuristic model, based on social-cognitive theory, that suggests several pathways through which visual media exposure can affect school performance Figure 1.
First, time spent on media use could simply displace time spent doing other activities that promote academic performance, such as doing homework or reading books. Second, viewing certain types of adult content could affect school performance by increasing adolescents' involvement in risky behaviors, such as smoking and alcohol use, resulting in decreased motivation at school.
Indeed, exposure to such cues in television or movies increases involvement by adolescents in cigarette smoking 4 - 11alcohol use 12 - 16and sex 17 - Third, there are certain dispositions that predict poor school performance, particularly a preference for intense and exciting sensations, which has been termed sensation-seeking.
Frequent viewing of movies that contain high levels of excitement and arousal e. There is also evidence to suggest that exposure to media violence promotes aggressive and uncontrolled behaviors. We used a prospective analysis with structural equation modeling, including baseline measures of each of the three intermediate variables substance use, school problem behavior, and sensation-seeking.
Hence, we could test the effect of television and movie viewing on changes over time in these hypothesized intermediate variables, and subsequent effects of the intermediate variables on change in school performance. The model included baseline covariates, variables likely to be correlated with both media exposure and school performance, so as to address potential alternative explanations for the observed effects of media exposure on school performance.
Figure represents possible mechanisms relating media use and school performance over time, based on social cognitive theory. Relationships shown are not meant to cover all possible relationships, but those which have some support in the literature.
